Plaster moulding and mirror works

 Plaster moulding and mirror works

Traditional plaster moulding and mirror works is among the decorative arts. Plaster moulding has a longer background ( Elamite era 250-644 B.C) which was found in Haft tape in Khozestan province. There was also a building in Qazvin city which was built  in 1965 in lunar year on the order of Shah Tahmasb  Safavi when the capital of Iran was Qazvin.

Using convex mirrors with one millimeter thick are the best kind of mirror which require considerable skill  and patience .It usually was used in aristocrats’ buildings and religious places.( 1501-1736). Mirror works was used to reflect the light and beautification of buildings, it Produce more luminance in remarkable facades. This art was used in conjuction with plaster work to reflect sunlight in palaces during the day. It is the art of geometric and symmetric design.

Speaking of making plaster work, we have two general styles of carving:  the first: One should drew the design on the mirror then cut it into pieces and then the cut pieces would be installed on the walls, ceilings, pillars and so on.

Second:  is to cut the mirror wholly, to make the design in a single piece. There are examples of mirror works in the Marmar palace, the Green palace museum in saadabad complex which catches visitors eyes and it is worth to see it.
