One of the interesting objects in Green Palace is a military medal, called Zulfiqar which belonged to Reza Shah (the first king of Pahlavi dynasty).

During Pahlavi dynasty, Zulfiqar was the highest rank and best medal of Iran`s imperial army which had been devoted only to foreign wars. This medal had been granted to officers and noncommissioned based on rules and regulations.

Types of Zulfiqar medal: this medal has two types:

1-   Special for officers:

Zulfiqar medal Special for officers has 4 grades: Brest Medal, Gimp Medal, The Big Star Medal and The Small Star Medal.

2-   Special for noncommissioned and privates: this is a bronze or nickel  medal in the shape of a circle, with the sign of Iran`s empire (sun and the lion) and the picture of  Zulfiqar (the sword of Imam Ali, the first imam of shia)
